Integration With Existing Systems

Integration With Existing SystemsExisting virtualization and automation technologies have helped companies consolidate applications to reduce overall hardware footprint and to remove unnecessary manual processes. But for too many, this is where the value ends. While these tools provide mechanisms to move applications around, they don't provide the required intelligence to decide when to do it in order to meet established application performance requirements.

In order to take systems management and virtualization implementations the last mile to deliver real value, organizations need technologies that work with and enhance existing tools, rather than trying to replace them.

Reliance plugs into and leverages existing virtualization and provisioning technologies, and other systems management tools, to create a more dynamic environment where data from both the applications and infrastructure is brought to bear in driving automated actions.

How It Works

Here are the adapters that allow Reliance to integrate with other technologies:

  • Smarts AM/PM, ACM, BIM, SAM, SPM
  • CIM, SNMP
  • Oracle, MySQL
  • Tomcat, JBoss
  • SSH, Logs, Syslog

Reliance also integrates with VM provisioning schedulers to enable them to respond to customer experience metrics. By measuring application-relevant infrastructure performance and providing customized deployment options, Reliance enables schedulers to dynamically allocate application instances in order to ensure a consistent, high-quality user experience and fine-grained control of server resources.

In addition, Reliance includes plug-ins that provide a core set of application metrics and a foundation to extend and customize those metrics to a specific application. The Reliance framework supports JEEas well as database performance indicators.

Reliance also includes integration with all major systems management frameworks. This integration is implemented through bidirectional messaging buses which signal application performance risk. Reliance's messaging buses also provide status information to systems management frameworks where a centralized alerting system or GNOC has been deployed.

Plug-In Architecture

Unlike other data center automation or "application fabric" solutions which seek to replace existing provisioning and/or systems management software, Reliance leverages and extends this software. The lightweight product architecture plugs in seamlessly to existing systems, utilizing their data to drive infrastructure provisioning as needed Thus, Reliance is able to drive greater value from existing systems – not only by leveraging their data to drive intelligent automation, but also by extending the value of these tools your organization has already invested in.

Why It Matters

With Reliance, application providers can ensure their infrastructure management implementations are delivering the promised value. Reliance is easy to install, integrating unobtrusively with existing infrastructure and leveraging the resources in place, so that performance is optimized without adding new complexity or additional resource investments.
